once you realise you just blew 150 or so on your mainstream anti-virus get your self a decent one from http://www.avast.com/ or www.eset.com/  nod32 is a comercial one but i prefer avast anyway, then install it and hit scan. the good things about these AV’s is they also anti-malware and are actually good at what they do, let them do ther thing and you’ll be sweet.

if the virus still persists, get a live cd from the internet, take you computer’s backup battery out leave over night not connected to a power source then power it up and boot off the live cd, use it to do your scan and then that should do it

 a driver is a bit of software which is normally a *.sys on a windows os that translates for the software every bit of hardware has a driver, the monitor the keyboard, the hard drive everything exept the ram and the processor, yes your motherboard does have a driver, (the motherboard driver is often called a chipset opposed to a driver), the driver is written into the bios for the more crucial things like the screen keyboard hard disk and a bunch of other boot devices, this is why you keyboard works before you mouse, because the mouse driver isn’t stored in the bios and needs to be loaded by an appliaction, often generic drivers are used for the less expensive items of hardware, keyboard and mouse for example, but if you were to spend $1000 on a graphics card you’d want to install the vendor driver, this is because it was written for the peice of hardware you just bought not every peice of hardware that fits in the same slot. vendor hardware allows for more specialized preformance of the hardware and therefore is generally better, the disadvantage of this is it needs to be installed and can often load tray applications to enhance the hardware but also slow down your computer, the beauty of a generic driver is that it is already installed and working once you plug the hardware in.

well, the bios rom thing is powered up and run then it does a bunch of tests then it sorts out it’s drives and bot sequence then it finds out if there is a boot record (boot.ini on windows oses) then it follows the instrucions held in the master boot record, the master boot record tells the bios where to look for windows and contains something similar to the folloing lines:

then it loads the kernel(win32/64)  and the gui and the windows ilk then once you log on it loads more ilk from reg entries and startup folders and this other place in the registeryand makes a big mess all over your hard drive.
